The Dark Knight

Rating: PG-13

Stars (out of 4): *** 1/2

Length: 2 hours, 32 minutes

Synopsis: "The Dark Knight" is such a moody, dramatic, dead-serious affair that it feels more like a noirish crime thriller than a superhero movie. It's something of a wonder—a Batman movie maintaining such a high dramatic pitch in an era when pop culture deems everything and everyone worthy of satire and mockery.

Writer-director-star Ben Stiller makes a movie about making a movie that no movie-maker should ever have made. And it's a riot. This is the project that Stiller will be known for, a Vietnam War epic satire that all those years spoofing Hollywood, the industry he grew up in and the people who run it, were leading up to.
